3 DAYS: OLLEROS - CHAVIN WITH LLAMAS
This is a soft trek, recommended for acclimation, and it’s the best way to get to the Pre-Inca Temple of “Chavin de Huantar”, one of the oldest in Peru. During the trek, you will enjoy magnificent valleys, picturesque Andean villages and beautiful snowcapped mountains. For a truly authentic experience, you will be joined with llamas on the route.

Day 01 HUARAZ – OLLEROS – SACRACANCHA
Early in the morning, we will departure Huaraz and head towards the south of the Callejón de Huaylas. It is only 30 or 40 minutes drive; you will see the picturesque village of Olleros where the gear is carried on llamas and donkeys. We then begin a tranquil walk for 5 or 6 hours along the shores of Black River (Rio Negro). We will lunch along the river, then continue to the first camp in Sacracancha with a view of Shaqsha, Uruashraju, Rurec and Tuctupunta peaks. Dinner and overnight at campsite. (Lunch – Dinner).
Day 02 SACRACANCHA – SHONCOPAMPA
After a succulent breakfast, 2 to 3 hour climb up to Yanashallash pass (4700 masl) where you can appreciate Huantsan (6395 masl), Rurec (5700 masl) and Uruashraju (5722 masl) peaks. This pass is the dividing line between Callejon de Huaylas (Huaylas Valley) and Callejon de Conchucos (Conchucos Valley), where you will find the Chavin de Huantar Temple. From this point, it is possible to see some of the rest of the pre-Inca stone trail that descents in switch-backs. Two or three hours more to arrive at second campsite in Shoncopampa. Dinner and overnight in campsite.(Breakfast – Lunch – Dinner).
Day 03 SHONCOPAMPA – CHAVIN DE HUANTAR – HUARAZ
Early in the morning, we start the descent to Chavín de Huantar. You can enjoy the colorful open fields, farmers, and picturesque little hamlets on the way. After 5 or 6 hours, we will arrive at the temple. In the afternoon, we will explore the archeological site that boasts underground galleries and temples. Here you can find the amazing Lanzón Monolítico and Estela de Raimondi stones. After the visit, you will return to Huaraz, passing under world’s highest tunnel: Kawish (4516 masl) and past Lake Querococha (3980 masl). Arrival in Huaraz around 9:00 PM and transfer to your hotel or restaurant.(Breakfast – Lunch). End of service
